My grandad loved his family and believed family should come first. He and his beloved wife jean, my funny nan who is younger than her years, had seven children- Linda,Susan,Michela,Velda,Lee,Lorraine and Mark.
In his younger years he was in the navy and when he'd had a drink or two would always tell us about the adventures he and his friends would get up to without being caught!
He was a fantastic artist who could draw or paint a picture that well you would think you were in the picture,a talent that i unfortunatly never posessed although one 6week holiday we attempted to make one of those plaster of paris cottages, but i was a bit to eager and didnt let it dry properly so he had to rescue half of the roof!
My grandad was a keen fisher, he even had a hat that said
"If this hat is missing i'm fishing..."
I went once with a rink of ribena and some jam sandwiches, he even let me have ago of the rod but i swung it too hard and got it tangled up in the tree branches behind me!
Always the entertainer he would always be keen to sing on his karioke, usually My Way by Frank Sinatra, he unlike many though would be quite sober, i've never known anyone be able to stay sober after the amount of drinks that were drunk at one of the famous Boxing day get togethers!!
But back to today, it is one year on, you are still sadly missed and you will always be in our thoughts...

For a grandfather on his birthday xx

Grandparents bestow upon their grandchildren
The strength and wisdom that time
And experience have given them.

Grandchildren bless their Grandparents
With a youthful vitality and innocence
That help them stay young at heart forever.

Together they create a chain of love
Linking the past with the future.
The chain may lengthen,
But it will never part...
